Waiving all fees, former US President Bill Clinton accepted our invitation to appear on the first Doha Debates Special on November 16th, 2005.
President Clinton sat for a short interview with internationally renowned journalist Tim Sebastian, chairman of the Doha Debates, and then took questions from the student audience.
The event focused on the demands of leadership, drawing out Clinton on a wide range of subjects, including the current U.S. involvement in Iraq, his own attempts at mediating Israeli-Palestinian peace talks and his decision to bomb Kosovo. He also talked about whether animosity generated by the invasion of Iraq made it impossible for the U.S. to play the role of peacemaker in the region.
